Happy Birthday to Me!

Woo hoo! So, not only is today my birthday, but I got my Sea of Yarn Swap package in the mail today!!!! Here's a pic....

Sea of Yarn

Let's see what I got...
• Two skeins of bright blue Cotton-tots, which I'm ecstatic about, as I can't find it locally anymore :)
• Two skeins of Lion Boucle in Tutti Frutti; every time I go to the store, I look longingly at this yarn, but hadn't bought any.
• A BIG ball of Sugar'n Cream in bright blue; now I can make my mom some more washcloths.
• A skein of TLC Coral Rose, which is super shiny :)
• A big fat skein of Lion Brand Baby Soft in red, and it's really soft.
• Two skeins of Brunswick Heatherlands in magenta, which are very pretty.
• One skein of Joann Sensations Angel Hair in purple; I've really wanted to try this yarn, it's one of the softest I've ever touched. Now I can make a super soft scarf!
• Three balls of cotton thread, two in off white and one multicolored (you can't tell how pretty the colors are in the pic).

And as a surprise, thread sized hooks and two booklets of doily patterns! I can't wait to try my hand at some thread crochet; thanks so much, Denise!

Progress Report

Well, when I last wrote, I made myself a to do list... let's see how far I've gotten. Um, I sewed the ends in and mailed four squares for a comfortghan, and have a RAOK package ready to go. That's about it....

I'm considering submitting a couple of afghans to the Iowa State Fair this summer. The problem, of course, being that I don't have a couple of afghans lying around, contrary to what my dear daddy seems to think. I have to make a decision by the end of the month, though, because that's when the registration is due. I'm thinking about recreating Kate's Ripple since I know that would be pretty easy. I've also got a half done wool blend ripple that I could finish, but it's imperfect to say the least. I'd like to submit two afghans, I just don't know how feasible that is. We'll see soon enough.

I haven't had much to update recently because I'm not letting myself crochet or buy yarn until I clean my apartment. Of course, it's difficult to really want to clean, and I've been super busy. Anyway, I should be able to crochet by the end of the week. This is especially important because I got paid today and would like to go shopping for the Sea of Yarn Swap at Crochetville! I'm really excited to find some neat stuff....

More tomorrow, as I will hopefully remember to update for WIP Wednesday!

To Do?

Gah! It's been super busy around here for the last week; my boss has been on vacation, so I was in charge at work, and she just got back but Freshman Orientation started today, so there's been no rest for the wicked. Also, last week I worked with a new girl, and she was saying completely inappropriate things, so I had to let my boss know, and she got let go yesterday. This is good because she was pretty awful, but bad because it means that I have to cover a lot of her shifts. And does that leave much time for crochet? No. In an effort to organize my mind, which is running in about forty directions right now, I'm going to try making an annotated to do list of my crochet stuff....

Finish (altered) Draped Bed Jacket:
I've been working on this one for about a week and a half; I got halfway through the first time and had to frog it all, as it was working up wider than I expected. I am again about halfway done, and will hopefully finish it soon. I'm using Red Heart Plush, so the sweater/jacket thing is super-soft right now.

Sew in ends on squares:
I finished 5 squares for a comfortghan request on Crochetville, but I've got to sew in the ends before I can finish.

Send out RAOK package:
Few people read my blog so far, but I'll keep mum on the details so as not to spoil any surprises.

Finish pencil bags:
I'm working on some really cool LB Microspun pencil bags that I designed on my own, and I need to finish them soon so that I can start using them- hopefully before I start teaching in a week and a half.

Start Erin's baby afghan:
I need to make an afghan for my sister before she has her baby in late July/early August. I want to use Caron Simply Soft Brites, because the colors are so fun; I know it's worsted, not baby weight, but it's pretty thin. Anyone think there'll be a problem?

Start Microspun ripple wraps:
This is a percolating project; I really want a wrap, and an extra to gift, I just need to think a big more about my materials. Microspun? Or Caron SS Brites? The world may never know....

Buy and dye some wool::
I've got tons of Kool-Aid in awesome colors, and I hope to dye my first wool soon! Hopefully in time for the Crochetville Sea of Yarn Swap!

Other Potential Projects:
I also want to work up an afghan for the back of my futon, and maybe some throw pillows. And I need to start planning for Christmas presents! I really want to do a couple of the fabric bowls in Cozy Crochet by Melissa Leapman. Put some fruit in them, and voila! a tasty gift!

Well, that's about all for now. Maybe I'll actually finish something sooner or later....
