Well, it sure has been a long week

Boy, I thought this week would never end; I've had papers and final projects galore to do. I managed to finish them all and a lapghan! Okay, so I still have to finish the border, but that's okay. I don't know the measurements right now, but it's not getting any bigger because I have to start a ten page paper this weekend.

Also, I got this shawl pattern from Stitch Diva Studios last week, and I'm working on one of those. That's another reason that I've decided not to make the lapghan a full fledged afghan, even though I don't have to mail it till Monday or Tuesday- if I can finish up a shawl, too, then I'll have two very different items to send, and hopefully get more money at the auction for Jerry.

In other crafty news (although it's not crochet...), I've got some tea towels to embroider for Mother's Day. My parents are divorced, and I embroidered some hankies for my dad's birthday earlier this month, and I think she was a little sad that I didn't show up with something for her, too. I also have to finish another dishcloth for Mom, because she loves the last one I made her. It makes my heart all warm to know that she uses it every day.

That's the great thing about moms; no matter how goofy looking the thing you make them, they'll always love it and be proud of you.

First post, and a story

Hi all! Since this is my first post, let me just say that this is a blog to show my creative side to the world. Therefore, I will be posting about what I'm crocheting, what I've done, and what I hope to do someday, and occasionally some asides. I will add more information about myself later, and right now I'm going to play around with my settings a bit.

And the story.... Well, I'm a senior in college/first year grad student, and I'm nearing the end of the semester. The next two weeks will be insanely busy. So my dad called two nights ago to tell me about a charity auction he's organizing for a good friend of his who has cancer, and he said, "So, do you have, oh, I don't know, a spare afghan lying around that you want to donate?" It was adorable, but alas, I have no spare afghan. I'm currently making three, one for a cousing who graduates from high school at the end of May, one for a cousin who gets married at the beginning of June, and one for my sister, who is having a baby in August. And I'm doing tons and tons of homework. So of course, I say that I'll have one to him by May 5th, because I'm insane. The one I had started for my sister will now be turning into a charity afghan, and she'll just have to wait. I don't know where I'm going to carve out time in my schedule between homework, my job, and doing psych experiments for cash, but I'm sure it's, um, possible. Maybe?
